Bora in the newspaper :)

My winning spoonflower fabric design published in a Delft newspaper! I did a short interview about spoonflower, the delft design and my job as a designer. I hope the people from Delft also like the design as much as the spoonflower voters :)

 Hoooray! My newest fabric design on Spoonflower won the cityscape contest!!! I'm so surprised and happy. Delft is the town i grew up; so for me it had to be a Delft design...choosing a colorpalete for the design had never been so easy :) Thanks to all who voted for my design!

'Dutch City Delft Gets Its Own Fabric
Today we wrap up our cityscape contest, which spawned a travel guide's worth of amazing, charming and unique fabrics. The winner, however, was none other than Bora, our all-time Spoonflower contest champ, who chose to commemorate her home town of Delft, in South Holland, a city famous for its blue pottery, home to the painter Vermeer (thank heavens Wikipedia is back up this morning!). Other cities celebrated in the top ten include Venice, New York, Milwaukee, London, Stockholm, Basel, San Francisco, Kowloon, and Amsterdam. What fun!'

Baby cloth book - To the circus

I was so happy when today the fabric for making a baby cloth book was delivered. I designed this for a spoonflower contest. If you like you can still vote for it!
I'll soon will make the bib and plushie too, unfortunately i'm too busy at the moment for that.

I immediately started sewing :) It's very simple to make. Here are some pics on how to make it!

 

Cutting the fabric

6 pieces of fabric

I ironed on some fusible fleece (pellon 987F) on the back of the fabric on 3 pieces

The fusible fleece was a little smaller; so the edges of the book will not become to thick

Sew around and leave a little space open to turn the fabric

Cut the corners of the seam

Turn the fabric

Optional; add a ribbon

Three pieces are ready to become a book...

Sew the pieces to each other...it's a real book now!!!

Close the gaps by sewing with needle and thread

Tadaaaa...here it is...we're off to the circus!

Boardgame, TeaTowel & 2012 Calendar in one!

Woohoo...here's another fabric design that ended top 10 at Spoonflowers 'Tea Towel Calendar 2012' contest! Thanks for all the votes and lovely comments :) This was so much fun to make. Except for placing all those numbers :( Can't wait to recieve the fabric and sew the dice and pawns! And maybe a cute bag to carry this on vacation. It will be fun to play with my 4 year old son...who loves boardgames!

And i almost forgot to mention; today there are no shipping costs at Spoonflower :)

I finally started sewing the Kawaii Kitchen plushie toys. This is a cut&sew fabric i designed a couple of weeks ago for a plushie contest on Spoonflower. This was nr 1! Again thanks a lot for the votes :D
This is just one fat quarter of a yard full of kitchen toys...so there's more to come.

Bowling Head Pins :D

A new funny collection for a Spoonflower design contest 'bowling'. Never though i could make a bowling fabric...hahaha. I really don't know a thing about bowling. But after reading all those funny terms on wikipedia i really was inspired! You can check the collection on Spoonflower.com.

Coffee rings are fun!

 

My newest design on Spoonflower made for the upcoming contest 'coffee'.
No worry about coffee stains on your tablecloth anymore with this fabric. It will only add some more color to the fabric! And if you get remarks about it: You can blame me and say the designer meant it to be that way...haha ;-)

Skirt fabric and sewing project

Here it is! My skirt pattern design as a sewn up skirt in organic cotton sateen! I immediately went to a birthday party in this skirt :-) If you like it...it's for sale at Spoonflower.
